Department of Language Education
Vision
Our graduates are professional Christian language teachers who are pace setters in their communities.

Goal
To train professionals with linguistic and communicative competence.

Objectives:
The Department of Language Education seeks to:
1. Widen the linguistic competence of students in grammar and vocabulary.
2. Develop proficiency and effectiveness in communication.
3. Meet the Church and global demands for language and literature teachers.
4. Develop students’ analytical skills to help them understand their world.
5. Inculcate in the students a love for research.
6. Encourage purposeful and independent reading.
7. Prepare students for careers in different fields of education and life; for example, writing, editing, teaching, and others.
8. Help students appreciate the God-given gift of cultural diversity.

 

 

 


Secondary Education Programs

This department offers the following secondary teaching subjects at degree and diploma levels:
1. English Language
2. Literature
2. Kiswahili
In addition, the Department of Social Work and Social Administration offers introductory courses in French and Sign Language.

 

 

 


Note concerning programs offered
A student may take English Language and Literature as the two teaching subjects or may opt to take English Language or Literature with another teaching subject.

A Bachelor of Arts with Education majoring in English Language and Literature opens a wide variety of career options, some of which are:
