  1. Bachelor of Science in Food Technology & Human Nutrition

The Bachelor of Science in Food Technology and Human Nutrition is a unique program, designed to provide a broad understanding of Human Nutrition and Modern Food Industries.

Entry Requirements for Bachelor of Science in Food Technology & Human Nutrition

Admission to the Programme is done in accordance with the Bugema University entry requirements for Bachelors’ degrees. A candidate is eligible for admission to the Programme on meeting at least one of the following requirements:

  • Have completed A-level and have two principle passes in Biology, Chemistry, Food and Nutrition, Agriculture, Physics or Mathematics,       and also passed at their sitting of O-level
  • Must possess a second class Diploma in relevant areas of Science and from recognized institutions. The relevant areas of science include; Agriculture, Education Biology/Chemistry, Food Processing, Nutrition, or related studies, from recognized/accredited Institutes.
  • Must have passed the Mature Age Entry Examinations for the Bachelor of Science in Food Technology & Human Nutrition recognized by NCHE in Uganda or its equivalent.                                
  • Other international students who do not undertake A-level should have passed mature entry exams or have an equivalent of A-level of Uganda and have a background in Science subjects mainly Biology, Chemistry, Agriculture, Physics, Mathematics, or Geography, Commerce or Economics.
  • Or Must successfully undertake the Bugema University Science Bridging Program (SBP) before enrolling into the Degree Program
  1. (a)Diploma in Food Science & Processing Technology

The program introduces students to a broad range of skills and techniques in Food science and Technology industry.

The graduates with a Diploma in Food Science and Processing Technology may take up careers in Food companies and Agencies:

  • Food Technical Officers,
  • Quality Control Officers,
  • Food Research Assistants
  • Food Production Analysis

Entry Requirements for Diploma in Food Science & Processing Technology

A candidate is eligible for admission to the Programme on meeting at least one of the following requirements:

  • Have completed A-level and have one principle pass in Biology, Chemistry, Food & Nutrition, Agriculture, Physics, or Mathematics and also passed at their sitting of O-level
  • Must possess a Recognised certificate in relevant areas of Science and from recognized institutions. The relevant areas of science include; Agriculture, Science Education, Food Processing, Nutrition, or related studies, from recognized/accredited Institutes.
  • Must have passed the Mature Age Entry Examinations recognized by National Council of Higher Education in Uganda or its equivalent.
