On Wednesday, 10 December 2025, Bugema University successfully administered the Mature Age Entry Scheme Examinations at its main campus, drawing candidates from across Uganda who seeks an alternative pathway into higher education. The examination, designed for applicants aged 25 years and above, was conducted in accordance with the University’s admissions policies and in alignment with regulations set by Uganda’s National Council for Higher Education (NCHE).
The Mature Age Entry Examinations provide an opportunity for adult learners many of whom lack traditional academic qualifications such as A Level certificates to demonstrate aptitude and secure admission into undergraduate degree and diploma programmes at Bugema University. To be eligible, candidates must meet the minimum age requirement of 25 years and satisfy the University’s application criteria, including submission of relevant documentation and payment of the examination fee through the official admissions portal.
In preparation for the examinations, the University’s Admissions Office disseminated information through official channels, including social media platforms and the Bugema University website, ensuring that prospective candidates were aware of the date, entry requirements, and examination procedures.
During the examination session, candidates were tested on a broad range of subjects relevant to their intended academic fields. The assessments aim to evaluate analytical, communication, and critical thinking skills key competencies needed for success in tertiary education. Bugema University’s academic staff oversaw the process, ensuring that the integrity and standards of the examination were upheld throughout the day.
The completion of these examinations marks an important milestone in the University’s admissions calendar, as results will inform placement decisions for applicants seeking enrolment in the 2026 academic intake. Mature age entry results typically determine eligibility for degree programmes, including Business Administration, Social Sciences, Education, Theology, and other disciplines offered by the institution.
Commenting on the examination process, the Examination officer Mr. Male Daniel highlighted the importance of inclusive access to higher education for adult learners, noting that mature age schemes help bridge gaps in educational attainment for Ugandans who may have missed earlier opportunities to qualify for university entry.
Bugema University continues to reaffirm its commitment to providing equitable and flexible routes into higher education, consistent with its mission to nurture lifelong learning and support personal development for diverse student populations.
