These achievements did not happen by chance. Both athletes earned their place on the Ugandan national university team after impressive performances in the 10,000-meter and 5,000-meter races during the University Games that were hosted at Uganda Christian University from 18th to 23rd December 2026. Their success during these national competitions caught the attention of selectors and opened the door for them to represent Uganda at the international championships in Italy.
