Message from the Dean
The School of Education, Bugema University, is an institution that trains professional teachers ranging from primary (or elementary in some countries) tthrough secondary (or high school in some countries) to institutions of higher learning tutors. We train all rounded trainees in current rudiments of helping young people to grow up into responsible citizens of tomorrow. We train you to become excellent education administrators at all levels; local govenment, denominational and other institutional administators,
School of Education follows the Adventist pholosophy of education which beleves in Christ centered learning. Christ is the initiator and the best role modal for learning as scriptures depict Him. The philosophy also follows the 3H: training the Head (academic knowledge), Heart (the spiritual and societal norms) as well as the Hand (the practical skills). This is crucial becaue the new trend in the host country, Uganda, and elsewhere is generating skills based products who are competent in solving world problems. There is a wave known as the Problem Based Learning (PBL) which in Uganda is implemented as the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) that is sweeping the continent at large. You will find it fully adressed in School of Education.
School of Education, Bugema University, has two departments: Department of Arts Education which trains teachers in arts related teaching subjects, and Department of Science Education for teachers who wish to teach science subjects. Faculty in both departments are parental. They handle learners with Christ like attitude. They are caring, loving and understanding. We guide learners not only through classroom environments but also train them to be competent researchers. We equip students with skills and ethics that will convert them into role modal world admired teachers. Educaion is practical, problem based and skills based. Therefore, if you decice to join us, you will never regret.
Lastly, the school is located in the middle of a campus that is eco-friendly, free from noise and other forms of polution. The ambience is very good for learning. No wonder we are excellent in service. Infrastructure is good, and all learning facilitirs are available.
