There’s a certain energy on campus today: new faces, nervous first-day smiles. Classes for Bugema University’s August 2026 Intake have officially begun, but if you’re not one of those new faces yet, there’s still time to be.

The Academic Registrar’s office confirmed it’s still receiving and processing applications, so students who missed the earlier deadlines can walk in, apply, and be registered, even with lectures already underway. Registration numbers for this intake are said to be higher than the January intake, a sign that interest in the university continues to grow.

Bugema, one of Uganda’s well-established private chartered universities, is currently taking applications for Certificate, Diploma, Bachelor’s and Postgraduate programmes. The university runs on a Seventh-day Adventist foundation, and its academic offerings reflect that mix of technical training and character-focused education under the motto “Excellence in Service.”

Worth noting: Nursing students actually started their classes last week, ahead of the rest of the intake. So, while most departments are just kicking off today, the School of Health and Allied Sciences has already been in session for a few days.

Some of the programmes currently open include:

  • Bachelor of Science in Applied Data Science and Artificial Intelligence
  • Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering
  • Bachelor of Nursing Sciences
  • Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication
  • Bachelor of Business Administration (Accounting & Insurance)
  • Bachelor of Theology
  • Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness Innovations and Management
  • Bachelor of Public Administration and Management

There are several other programmes beyond this list, spread across the university’s different schools.

Registration is underway now at the main campus in Luweero District and at Bugema’s other campuses. Interested applicants can apply directly through the university’s online portal at erms.bugemauniv.ac.ug/application. So, if you’ve been dragging your feet on applying, now’s the moment to move. The Registrar’s office is open, applications are still being processed, and new students are being added to the intake list even as classes continue.

In the end, Excellence in Service isn’t about being first through the gate it’s about showing up ready to grow, to serve, and to become something more than you were. For Bugema’s newest students, that journey starts now.
