Bugema University recently welcomed the Rt. Rev. Wilson Kisekka, 4th Bishop of the Luweero Anglican Diocese, who led a delegation of 25 representatives from the diocese on a courtesy visit to the institution.
As part of the occasion, Bishop Kisekka joined university officials in planting a tree on campus, a small gesture, but one meant to mark the start of a relationship rather than close out a single afternoon’s visit.
University officials described the visit as informal by design: no set agenda beyond getting acquainted, and conversation focused on building rapport between Bugema University and the Anglican Church. Officials said they hope the visit is the first step toward future collaboration between the university and the diocese, though what form that collaboration might take has not yet been outlined.
The Bishop arrived with the full delegation of 25 members drawn from across the diocese, a turnout that reflected the significance the church placed on the trip. Delegates said they were pleased to be hosted at the university.
Before leaving, Bishop Kisekka signed the Vice Chancellor’s Office visitor book. In his note, he wrote that the delegation was “very grateful to visit this university” and added a blessing: “May the good Lord continue to use you in mighty ways. Be blessed.”
For Bugema University, the visit fits a broader pattern of engagement with religious and community institutions ties the university has continued to build alongside its academic work. The tree planted that day now stands on campus as a marker of the visit, and of whatever comes next between the two institutions.
