Bugema University officially opened its 2026/2027 Orientation Week on the 10th August 2026, welcoming newly admitted students with calls to prioritize their faith, focus on academics, and stay true to the purpose that brought them to campus.

The orientation began with a devotion led by the University Chaplain, Pr. Richard, titled “Who is Your Friend?” His message set a reflective tone for the day, urging freshers to be intentional about the company they keep as they begin university life. Following the devotion, the Bugema University Students’ Association (BUSA) President, H.E. Lubega Festo, welcomed the new students to the University and invited the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Israel M. Kafeero, to address the freshers.

In his remarks, Dr. Kafeero cautioned the new students about continuing students with poor habits who could distract them from the purpose that brought them to campus, urging freshers to stay focused and guard against negative peer influence. The Deputy Vice Chancellor, in charge of Academics, Dr. Rosette Kabuye, who advised the new students to concentrate on their academics, put God first, and work hard, reminding them that this is the sole purpose that brought them to the University.

The University Registrar also addressed the freshers, advising those who had not yet completed registration to do so promptly to avoid late-registration penalties, and encouraging students to read their handbooks. The Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Finance, Pr. Bagembe William, emphasized the importance of paying fees on time and encouraged students facing any financial challenges to approach the relevant offices to avoid inconveniences.

Closing the orientation remarks, the Dean of Students, Madam Nyanzi, affectionately referred to as “Our Mother” by students, focused on maintaining a good dress code in keeping with the University’s Christian identity. She encouraged students never to be afraid of approaching her office whenever they face any challenge.

The day’s activities were capped off with a campus tour led by the Marketing Manager, Mr. Ssentongo Reagan, giving the freshers a firsthand look at the University’s facilities and helping them familiarize themselves with the campus ahead of the new academic year.
