Job Title: DVC- Development

Vacancies: 01

Responsilbe To: Vice Chancellor

Terms of Employment: Five-year contract but with annual performance appraisal.

Purpose of the Job

  • Responsible for coordinating the preparation and implementation of the University's strategic and Development plans.

Minimum Qualifications

    A PhD and Master's degree but with a rich experience of hands-on in developing projects.
    High level of maturity, leadership, and supervisory skills, ability to build, lead, and work with teams, Quick judgment and decision making, ability to provide strategic leadership, Excellent public relations and negations skills, a high level of integrity and a strong concern with equity. Subscription to Bugema University norms and core values is a must.

Key Functions

The DVC Development shall: 1. Be the third Deputy Vice-Chancellor and in the absence of the second DVC to perform the functions of the Vice Chancellor.
2. Be responsible for identifying and carrying out appropriate development planning.
3. Develop and implement programs focused on planned giving, endowment funds, foundations, and donor funds by the missions, aims, and objectives as well as the strategic plan of the University.
4. Monitor and coordinate the infrastructural development of the University based on the Master Plan, including coordination of site visits by contractors as well as receiving progress reports on ongoing construction projects.
5. Develop systems that will facilitate the preparation and submission of grant proposals from both academic and non-academic staff.
6. Mobilize, build, and strengthen the network of individuals, alumni, corporations, and organizations that contribute to the development of BU.
7. Act as liaison between funding sources and the University and maintain personal contacts with their representatives for funding sources.
8. Work as a steward of foundations and corporations that have provided support for institution projects.
9. Act as liaison officer between the Government and the University on matters affecting the BU community.
10. Be responsible for resource creation and mobilization.
11. Link with stakeholders, Institutions, and various agencies with a view of fostering and enhancing the development of the University.
12. Ensure the production of materials and activities intended for fundraising.
13. Supervise the development and alumni affairs support staff as well as volunteers in the implementation of development and alumni affairs programs.
14. Liaise with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor- Finance and Administration on the utilization of donated funds, timely completion of projects, accurate documentation, and prompt reporting as per agreements with donors.
15. Process the delivery of deferred and presented gifts for the use and benefit of BU.
16. Evaluating the profitability of each enterprise project for sustainable growth.
17. Liaise with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor-Academics and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor-Finance and Administration on the equipment and facility needs and developing funding requests to relevant donors.
18. Conduct research as well as collaborations with embassies and missions that will help in the development of funding requests from various departments of the University including funding for needy and worthy students.
19. Initiate development projects that link the University to the community and industry.
20. Developing overall business strategies for the self-sustaining, revenue-generating auxiliary enterprises and activities that ensure their fiscal stability.
21. Evaluating operational procedures/policies and developing and implementing new strategies for specific units.
22. Perform any other duties as reasonably assigned by the Vice Chancellor.

Job Title: Warden for Male Students

Responsilbe To: The Dean of Students' Affairs.

Terms of Employment: Three years' renewable contract upon satisfactory performance

Purpose of the Job

  • Exceptional welfare services for students at all times.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A mature, vibrant person aged between 30-50.
  • A Bachelor' degree in Education/Social Sciences/ Arts/ Humanities or a closely related discipline. Computer literacy is a must.
  • Subscription to Bugema University norms and core values is a must

Key Functions

The Warden shall: 1. Regularly inform appropriate authorities about students' concerns.
2. Keep records necessary for effectively administrating students' affairs and making them available to appropriate authorities.
3. Suggest plans for repairs, maintenance, and furnishing halls of residence.
4. Direct and supervise the work of other employees who work in the halls of residence.
5. Correspond and counsel, through the Dean of Students' Affairs, with parents or sponsors of students under their supervision.
6. Facilitate students' activities such as devotional periods, prayer bands, and personal contacts.
7. Arrange room reservations and room assignments for students.
8. Instruct students on proper conduct, and relation with the opposite sex, and investigate reported irregularities.
9. Approve applications of resident students to leave campus.
10. Advise the students and provide other essential counseling services.
11. Work with the University Health Services in ascertaining students' physical needs and in encouraging good health habits.
12. Refer those problem students who may need more specialized help to the University Counselor.
13. Work with the Dean of Students' Affairs in handling disciplinary cases.
14. Perform any other duties that the Dean of Student Affairs may reasonably assign.

Job Title: Chief Security Officer

Responsilbe To: DVC-Finance and Administration

Terms of Employment: Three years renewable contract upon satisfactory performance

Purpose of the Job

  • To be responsible for the security and safety of staff and students as well as property of all the university campuses.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A mature, vibrant person aged between 35-50.
  • A Bachelor's degree preferably in management or a related qualification.
  • Hands experience of at least five years in a security-related organization or a senior administrative position. A qualification in security-related courses or a qualification in Administrative Law shall be to an added advantage. Communication, organization, decision-making, creativity, emotional intelligence, swiftness at work, and being keen on details are some of the required traits. A role model to all security guards and subscription to Bugema University norms and core values is a must.

Key Functions

The Chief Security Officer shall: 1. Daily assign work and deploy security personnel to all strategic locations.
2. Monitor and supervise security guards to ensure that they execute their work.
3. Draw out the daily work schedules for security personnel.
4. Submit requisition for supply of security utilities through the Estates Manager.
5. Submits weekly performance reports to the Estates Manager.
6. Coordinate with Administrators and all staff members to ensure effective security.
7. Train and orient newly recruited security personnel into the security department.
8. Ensure and maintain discipline among security staff.
9. Receive daily security reports from subordinates.
10. Carry out any other duties as may be reasonably assigned by the Administration.
